La Rusa Hotel distinguishes Baracoa’s architecture and History, due to the location of its three-storied building and the characteristics of its foundation. Magdalena Rovieskuya, a Russian émigré in the 1930’s, and baptized by locals as “La Rusa”, gave renown to the site. She hosted, among others, Errol Flynn and Argentine-Cuban commandant Ernesto Ché Guevara. After her death the hotel preserves nice service and it is recommended for travelers wanting to explore Baracoa’s historical, nature and cultural charms. Likewise, the hotel’s proximity to Unesco’s World Biosphere Reserve Cuchillas del Toa makes it easy to organize excursions to the reserve, if you consider that the area has registered 129 bird species, and among them 15 are endemic.
La Rusa Hotel sits in the malecón (seaside promenade) that skirts Baracoa city, in Guantánamo province, at the easternmost tip of Cuba. It is nearby Casa de la Trova Victoriano Rodríguez and 2 km away from the local airport (Domestic Flights).
