The María La Gorda Hotel is a refuge for diving enthusiasts and naturalists. More than 50 diving sites are available with a less-than-an-hour boat ride from the hotel. Visibility is excellent and the waters of the Bahia de Corrientes are considered among Caribbean bests’ for undersea activities. The International Diving Center offers numerous deals and classes for amateur or professional divers. More than 20 species of coral and lots of small and medium size fishes, lobsters, morays and crabs can be frequently seen in these bottoms. Perfect destination for birdwatching enthusiasts, 190 bird species had been reported at Guanahacabibes, and it is one of the most important seasonal migrant paths for 95 species. The zunzuncito (Cuban hummingbird) and the tocororo (Cuban trogon) are among them.

Location

The María La Gorda Hotel is at the Guanahacabibes Peninsula, Pinar del Rio province, on the far western tip of the island. Located very near to 50 excellent diving spots, it is situated on Bahía de Corrientes, Punta Aguirre, 142 km southward Pinar del Río.
