Rent a car in Cuba
Although at the moment we do not have online car availability, you can contact our sales team by email or via Whatsapp +53 5 8472029, they will be happy to help you.
By renting a car you will be free to have your time and arrange the itinerary according to your interests, while exploring Cuba at your own rhythm.
We offer different car categories (economic, medium, van, luxury, among others). Cars may be picked up upon your arrival at the airport itself or along Cuba´s main cities and cays.
We work with major car rental agencies for ensuring the highest quality of services and proper conditions of vehicles.
What should I know before renting a car?
We exclusively confirm by car category and no by car makes or specific models.
Minimum age for driving a car is 18 years old for non-residents in Cuba and 21 years old for residents in Cuba.
Main driver should be the holder of the booking. The same will be asked to show his/her passport and a valid international driving license issued not less than one year ago for picking up the car.
One or more drivers may be added at an extra cost, which is not included in the booking.
Car may be returned, at the end of the rental period, by the main driver only. Other drivers, if any, may not return the car on behalf of the holder of the booking.
Late return of car entails the application of a penalty equal to one day or more of rent, depending on the delay itself.
Insurance nor security deposit are included in the rental prices, unless specifically stated. These charges are directly paid when picking up the car. Security deposit is returned to the customer when the car is returned (dropped off).
Cars may be rented in one location and returned (dropped off) in another location for an extra cost, which may change according to each rental agency, days of rent and the distance between pick up and drop off locations. This charge is deducted from the security deposit the client paid when the car was picked up.
Transit ticket, if any, will be deducted from the security deposit.
If the security deposit is not enough for covering extra charges originated by late return, drop off or others, then the Customer will be requested to pay the amount due in cash at the return location.
Tips for driving in Cuba
In Cuba you drive on the right side of the road and the international traffic signal system is followed.
Road conditions, including traffic signals, are not always as per the international standards, therefore you should drive carefully.
Avoid driving on rural roads at night. You may find loose animals, animal-drawn carts or bicycles without proper or no lights.
Use of seat belts on front seats is mandatory.
Although 3G and 4G connections are mostly available all over the country, you may find areas with no connectivity. As of now, no navigation systems or GPS devices are installed nor provided by any car rental agency in Cuba. Try to install applications, such as road maps, preferably offline ones, in your tablets or smartphones and carry them with you.
Check your car before leaving the rental office. Notify to the staff any dents, scratches or malfunctioning you may find in the car. Make sure the agent writes your observations in the Rental Contract to further avoiding claims for damages.
Make sure the car has a hydraulic jack and a spare tire.
Ask for an updated road assistance telephone number.
Keep one copy of your Rental Contract. The police or any authorized officer may ask for it at any time. The holder of the booking will be requested, at the moment of returning the car, to pay a penalty in case of loss of Rental Contract.
Plan fuel consumption accordingly. Take into account that gas stations are mostly located at main cities which may be far from each other.
Cubans are friendly, supportive and educated people. Auto stop is a common mode of transportation in Cuba. However, we advise you to be cautious.
